The Marriott Library wants to reopen its east entrance Aug. 25 after a year of closure, bringing a slew of new additions throughout the building for students. Unfortunately, a state building inspector visited the library July 31 and would not grant an occupancy permit for the third and fourth floor.

U administrators and campus planners are continuing to work on plans to build a mixed-use development on the Rice-Eccles Stadium parking lot. Tami Cleveland, a campus planner at the U, said project plans would include retail stores, housing, restaurants and parking for students and the public.

The U gymnastics team will look to add to its 900 all-time program wins when the 2009 Red Rocks kick off the season against the Bruins of UCLA in January. There are high expectations surrounding the team this year, just as there are every year. The U gymnastics team is coming off a season in which its only regular season loss came to Florida on senior night.

The Obama campaign is in full swing as the democratic nominee tours the country to begin addressing American concerns. With Obama securing the democratic nomination, the battle between parties is quickly becoming a focus in the news.
"I am really quite exuberant that Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination," said Colby Bone.

Starbucks has announced the closing of 600 stores, and one of the stores closing its doors is the 3685 S. Harrison Boulevard location, across the street from the Weber State University Ogden campus.
Starbucks announced the closures in July, and decided to close the stores because of lack of performance and decline in sales.

The Weber State University Football Team is currently sitting in fifth place in the Big Sky Conference. That is, fifth place according to the media and coaches polls.
From July 20-22, the Big Sky held its annual Summer Football Kickoff in Park City, Utah.

This past week the Utah Jazz began the Rocky Mountain Review a little rocky, losing its first two games to the San Antonio Spurs and the Atlanta Hawks. Kosta Koufos, the Jazz's 23rd pick in the 2008 draft showed an unimpressive five points and four rebounds starting his debut with the Jazz on last Fridays game against the Spurs. The Jazz made an embarrassing 29% from the field, losing 57 to 82.
