The 2007 Scenic West Athletic Conference softball champs are poised for a repeat in 2008, led by Head Coach Mary Kay Amicone. This will be Amicone's fourth season leading SLCC softball, which has only experienced success with her at calling the shots.

The Bruins finished last season's play with an overall record of 36-18-2 and conference record of 28-12, good for first in the SWAC. They also went 13-10 at home and placed fourth in the Region 18 tournament.

Amicone was SWAC Softball Coach of the Year in 2005 in just her second season at SLCC. She also received conference coach of the year honors with BYU in 2001.

On the field, SLCC was stocked top-to-bottom with excellence in 2007. Seven players received All-Region honors, led by Katie Weese, Bonnie Muir, and Shelly Manuel on the First Team.

Five Bruins were named NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-Americans, while 11 players received Academic All-Region honors.

SLCC softball plays all home games at Bruin Field, located on the Redwood Campus at 4455 South 2150 West. Their first game of 2008 is Feb. 22 when they host Snow College.
