The evening of Sept. 27 was a big one on the SLCC Redwood Campus. A tribute was being played to a group of four men who had an everlasting effect on Rock-n-roll and the American people.
Walking around the campus students would assume The Beatles were back together and playing once again.
Students, faculty, friends and family packed the Alder Amphitheater to enjoy a tribute to The Beatles. The tribute was performed by students at SLCC who are part of the South City Jazz Choir and the Chamber Choir.
"It's really fun to sing The Beatles," Andrew Birkinshaw a member of the SLCC Jazz Choir said.
The night was an array of Beatles classics that was complimented a funk-a-delic theme. The performers were in their Beatles like attire from all the generations of the music group.
The Fine Arts Department as well as Student Life and Leadership put together the free event. Many members were on hand. Student life and Leadership handed out free popcorn and drinks.
"I enjoy The Beatles and I enjoy their sound," Josh Alvarez a student at SLCC said.
The crowd was eager as 7:30 p.m. rolled around, but the performers were right on cue.
The campus was rockin' like it was the sixties and John, Paul, George, and Ringo were once again playing together.
The Chamber Choir gave The Beatles a touch of something new with their performance.
"I love The Beatles," said SLCC Jazz Choir member, Joe Ecker. "'Hey Jude' is my favorite song."
The night was about The Beatles and paying a tribute to the decades of music they played. Both the Chamber Singers and Jazz Choir had the crowd bobbing their head to every beat, just as the Beatles did years ago. The band got received a reaction from the crowd as they covered The Beatles classic hits.
