Most people find themselves sitting at home, alone, on a weekend night because they don't have a date. Or, they don't have the money to go on a date. Here are some ideas for those who want to take that special someone out, without breaking their bank.

If you're looking for a semi-fancy night out, check out Ichiban's Sushi and Japanese located downtown. Every Monday and Tuesday night they have "happy hour." This isn't your typical happy hour with drinks. Instead they have several sushi rolls that are half off. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside with the romantic low light from tiki torches. After dinner, a walk around the city is a good way to get to know each other. After letting your stomach settle, stop into a gelato parlor for dessert. If you've hit it off with this person and the night is still young, go to the red box and rent a movie.

Now that's getting cold outside, take your date out for hot chocolate. After you get warmed up you can wander around temple square to look at the Christmas lights. If you're not into walking around in the cold, you could take a carriage ride around the square instead. At the end of the night you could make smores in your living room. This could be done by using a fireplace. If you don't have one, use a candle.

Another cheap date idea is often used by high school students, but it can still be fun for us. Take your date out for five dollar pizza at Dominos then go to Nickelcade. To make things interesting at the arcade, make a bet to see who can win the most tickets. Let the winner decide where to get dessert that night but the loser would have to pay for it.

A good activity for a group date would be to have a progressive dinner. This is where you travel to each couples house to eat a different portion of the meal. When you're finished eating, you could go to a thrift store and pick out an outfit for your date to wear skating that night. You could either go roller skating at Classic Skating or go ice skating at the Gallivan Center.
